Application:
An active hydrocolloid gel dressing for use on all types of wounds. Polisept® Vet Wound
Gel
is a modern preparation used to care for and support the healing of animal wounds. Polisept® Vet Wound Gel contains two synergistically acting active substances contained in a hydrocolloid gel: Polihexanidine (PHMB): a biguanide agent with a broad spectrum of action against pathogenic microorganisms Betaine (surfactant): a mild surfactant that effectively removes mechanical and biological contaminants, including BACTERIAL BIOFILM Polisept® Vet Wound Gel is used as an adjunct in the treatment of: Surgical wounds Acute infected and sterile wounds Chronic wounds (pressure sores, ulcers of various origins Wounds with dry or liquefying necrosis Superficial and deep wounds (lacerated, bitten, with recesses and pockets) First and second degree burns.
Dosage
Before applying the gel, it is recommended to thoroughly clean and decontaminate the wound using Polisept® Vet Wound Irrigation (depending on the type and condition of the wound) or, if necessary, surgical debridement of the wound. Removal of mechanical, biological and Wound decontamination, including the removal of bacterial biofilm, creates optimal conditions for further treatment. When rinsing lacerated wounds, bite wounds, recesses, or pockets, ensure fluid drainage. Apply the gel to dry wounds. In the case of severe wound infection, use an appropriate antiseptic. Apply the gel. Squeeze the gel from the tube and apply a thin layer (3-5 mm) directly to the wound. The gel can also be applied to the wound using a sterile spatula. In the case of deep wounds, fill the wound with gel to 2/3 of its depth, ensuring it does not protrude beyond the surface of the surrounding skin. Cover the wound with a secondary dressing (if the gel is changed daily, secondary dressings may be omitted, provided that the wound is protected from licking by animals). Secondary dressings. All types of secondary dressings can be used. Gauze, compresses, or other easily absorbable dressing materials should also be soaked. Dressing change. The frequency of dressing changes depends on the treatment adopted, the nature and condition of the wound. The gel can be changed daily or left in the wound for up to 3 days. When changing the dressing, gently rinse any remaining gel or other residues (so as not to damage the wound) with Polisept® Vet Wound Gel irrigation fluid, depending on the condition of the wound.
