The intestinal mucosa - the home of the intestinal flora.
Millions of adults in Germany know the importance of a healthy intestinal flora for metabolism, the immune system and the psyche - and already take preparations containing bacteria. However, it is less well known that the intestinal flora depends on an intact intestinal mucosa.

Continuous mucus formation is the basis.

The intestinal mucosa constantly produces mucus. This mucus forms a physical protective layer on the intestinal mucosa, and it is also home to thousands of beneficial bacteria in the intestinal flora.

If mucus formation is impaired by recreational drugs, certain medications or other external influences, the barrier function can decrease, as can the function of the intestinal flora. The intestinal mucosa can then come into direct contact with foreign substances; these can penetrate the body more easily. Conversely, a rich intestinal flora with all its advantages can develop on a dense mucous layer.

Akkermansia muciniphila - loves the intestinal mucosa.

Akkermansia muciniphila also lives in this mucous layer (muciniphila means: the mucus-loving one). Although it is one of the most common intestinal bacteria, it was only successfully isolated in 2004.

In the short time since its discovery, the microorganism has already become the subject of numerous studies: Research is currently being carried out into how a protein called "Amuc-1100" on the outer shell of Akkermansia muciniphila interacts with the mucus-producing cells of the intestinal mucosa.

Akkermansia muciniphila is a strictly anaerobic bacterium, which means that it dies when it comes into contact with oxygen in the air. A pasteurization process has now been used to ensure the stability and availability of the bacterium for consumption in a dietary supplement. In addition, this process increases and improves the accessibility of the "Amuc-1100" protein. The postbiotic obtained in this way is called Pasteurized Akkermansia MucT ® .

Key advantages of ProBio-Cult AKK1:
1. Pasteurized Akkermansia MucT(R) does not compete or interact with diet or supplements. Its properties are independent of additional fiber or vitamins.
2. Postbiotics are more robust and less sensitive to oxygen, stomach acid, bile salts and thus reach the small and large intestine functionally.
3. Pasteurized Akkermansia MucT(R) has been classified as safe by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and approved as a novel food by the EU Commission.
4. ProBio-Cult AKK1 contains the same amount of Pasteurized Akkermansia MucT(R) that was also used in clinical studies - 10 to 100 times more than is usually contained in other bacterial products.
5. ProBio-Cult AKK1 contains a carefully selected combination of ingredients:
-Methylfolate, a biologically active form of folic acid. Folate has a function in cell division. This can be particularly important during phases of rapid growth, such as the growth of intestinal mucosal cells.
-Vitamin B2 (riboflavin): Riboflavin contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes, including the intestinal mucosa.
-Chamomile flower extract with apigenin: The natural flavonoid apigenin appears to be able to interact with the intestinal flora. How and whether this may influence the composition and function of the intestinal flora is currently the subject of research.1)
ProBio-Cult Akk1 is therefore a useful supplement for people who want to practice targeted intestinal care2).

A healthy intestinal mucosa is important!

1) Riboflavin contributes to the maintenance of normal mucous membranes, and thus also the intestinal mucosa
