Manuka honey is rightly called the king of honey and crowns the range of Queen Bee from New Zealand.
This honey is characterized by a unique development process in which the bees use the nectar of the Manuka tree as the primary source and thus produce the pure and so-called monofloral Manuka honey. In order to be allowed to use the term monofloral, the honey must undergo constant controls within the framework of the strict guidelines of the New Zealand government.
The Queen Bee Manuka honey comes from the pristine landscape of New Zealand and is checked by Queen Bee not only for its purity, but also for its MGO content. Thanks to the research work of Professor Henle at the TU Dresden, it was possible to prove that Manuka Honey MGO can contain concentrations of 20 to 800 mg per kg honey, whereas normal honey contains a maximum of 20 mg MGO per kg honey. The different quality classes of Manuka honey result from the MGO content per kilogram, which can be recognized by its name, e.g. MGO 400+.
However, the MGO content is not the only specialty of Manuka honey. Manuka honey can be enjoyed in a variety of ways - for natural sweetness when cooking and baking, as a taste highlight of a nutritious porridge or in its pure form for pure aroma.
