Mode of action:
Depending on their size, duration of application, and temperature, Fangotherm compresses lead to a local or general warming or cooling of the body. Local and/or reflex effects are utilized for therapy. Warm compresses promote circulation, boost metabolism, relax muscles, and relieve pain. The increase in circulation is initially superficial, but with longer application, a deeper effect occurs. The type of heat effect can be controlled by varying the initial temperature and the duration of application. Cold compresses have a vasoconstricting, metabolism-suppressing, and pain-relieving effect.
Notes:
- The compress must not be used on patches containing active ingredients (e.g. fentanyl patches)!
- During pregnancy, you should avoid applying warm or cold compresses over large areas (especially in the abdomen and back area)!
