Siccaprotect ^® eye drops: moistening and care of the eyes

If the composition of the tear fluid is disturbed or if the tear glands produce too little of this necessary fluid, the tear film ruptures. The result: the cells of the eye in this area are no longer supplied with oxygen and nutrients. Those affected feel that the cells are being damaged in the form of itching or burning in the eyes or a foreign body sensation, often associated with severe pain. In advanced stages, injuries to the cornea and conjunctiva can occur. Siccaprotect ^®Eye drops contain the ingredient polyvinyl alcohol, which increases the viscosity of the drop solution. Due to the slightly increased viscosity of the eye drops, they remain longer on the surface of the eye and thus guarantee long-lasting and intensive moisturizing. The dexpanthenol additionally contained in Siccaprotect ^® causes the damaged corneal and conjunctival tissue to regenerate more quickly and thus contributes to accelerating the healing of irritated eyes.

Application and dosage of Siccaprotect ^® eye drops

Unless otherwise prescribed by the doctor, the recommended dose is one drop in the conjunctival sac up to 6 times a day. Distribute the applications of Siccaprotect ^® evenly throughout the day. The exact duration of treatment depends on the individual clinical picture and is determined by the doctor. In general, treatment with artificial tears such as Siccaprotect ^®a long-term therapy. Eye drops should always be used in such a way that the dropper tip does not come into contact with the eye or skin of the face. Unscrew the protective cap, tilt your head back, slightly pull the lower eyelid away from your eye and introduce a drop into the conjunctival sac by gently squeezing the bottle. Slowly close your eyelids. After use, the bottle should be carefully closed again. Please talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have the impression that the effect of Siccaprotect ^® is too strong or too weak.
