The intimate flora keeps the bladder intact
Every woman has a large number of germs in the area of the perineum, vagina and the lower part of the urethra. Normally, this intact intimate flora ensures that unwanted microorganisms are kept in check and have little chance of spreading. Even the bladder is not a germ-free space – contrary to what was previously thought. With the help of modern laboratory methods, scientists have discovered in recent years that it is always populated by different types of bacteria in a relatively stable composition. The intact bladder mucosa acts like a protective shield: with the help of specialised immune cells and a tough layer of mucus, it prevents germs from attaching and multiplying.

What throws the bladder out of balance
The delicate balance of the vaginal flora is of great importance for a healthy bladder. Excessive intimate hygiene with aggressive cleaning products can destroy it. Cold reduces the blood flow to the mucous membranes - this reduces their defensive function. During sexual intercourse, a woman's urethral mucosa is subjected to considerable stress: on the one hand purely mechanically, and on the other hand by the foreign bacterial flora of the sexual partner. Hormones also play a role: during menopause, the composition of the intimate flora changes, the pH value increases and the mucous membrane becomes thinner.

We can help our bladder by drinking a lot. Regular urination ensures good flushing. Undesirable germs are washed out before they can cause damage.

What are sporebiotics? Around 70 percent of the body's immune cells are located in the intestines. In addition, trillions of microorganisms live there - our intestinal flora. The interaction of the various bacteria is very important for intestinal function. Influencing the bacterial flora is not so easy, however. Most microorganisms ingested with food, such as lactobacilli or bifidobacteria, do not survive the acidic environment of the stomach. To make them more resistant, they are often chemically coated. Nevertheless, these bacterial cultures often react sensitively to stomach acid. Moisture and heat also affect them, which is why their shelf life is limited. When ingested, only a small proportion of them reach the intestine alive.

Sporebiotics, on the other hand, contain viable Bacillus microorganisms in the form of spores. Some bacterial strains use this type of encapsulation in nature to survive under adverse environmental conditions - for example, at high temperatures, in a lack of water or in strong acids. In the case of Sporebiotics, this natural protective shell ensures high stability against stomach acid and a long shelf life.

Lactoferrin
Bacteria need iron to multiply. Lactoferrin is a protein found in mammals with a wide range of functions. It is found in many body fluids, such as tears, saliva, nasal and bronchial secretions. Breast milk contains particularly high levels of lactoferrin - especially in colostrum, which is the first food that newborns consume. The protein is only slightly saturated with iron and can bind more than five times its original iron load.
