Effective skin protection against incontinence

Healthy skin plays an important role in physical well-being. The process of aging does not leave the skin untouched either – it becomes more sensitive and more prone to injuries. Incontinence further irritates the skin of elderly people, making them susceptible to inflammation, rashes and dermatitis. Regular hygiene and care tailored to sensitive skin are therefore of central importance in the context of incontinence care.

TENA ProSkin Barrier Cream is a transparent, water-repellent cream to prevent and protect skin health. The gentle formula provides a strong barrier against irritants and is ideal for use on areas of the skin already showing signs of redness and irritation from incontinence, especially in the sensitive intimate area. With regular use, the protective cream can effectively prevent skin damage.
Thanks to the natural ingredients glycerin, rapeseed oil and vitamin E, irritated skin is gently cared for and moisturized. The composition has been dermatologically tested and has proven itself over many years in skin care. The absence of perfumes and preservatives makes the product ideal for sensitive skin.
TENA Barrier Cream has been awarded the Nordic Swan Ecolabel for meeting strict consumer protection and environmental standards.

Incontinence TENA BARRIER Cream. How can skin irritation caused by incontinence be avoided?

What do I need to care for an incontinent relative?

The skin of older people is already very sensitive and no longer so resistant to external influences. In addition, the urine can attack the acid mantle of the skin. Normally harmless bacteria and fungi can then no longer be warded off and can cause an unpleasant skin rash or infection. Consistent hygiene is therefore extremely important when caring for incontinent relatives. Place value on incontinence products with high absorbency that reliably keep the person concerned dry. Always make sure to change the protection in good time and carefully cleanse the skin with mild cleansing lotions that, unlike water and conventional soap, do not damage the skin. So that no moisture remains on the skin, the intimate area should then be thoroughly dabbed dry. For additional protection of sensitive skin, we recommend using a water-repellent barrier cream with nourishing ingredients.

Can't baby products also be used to treat incontinence diaper rash?

While it is generally true that baby oils and cleansing lotions are good for sensitive skin, they are suitable for use on infants and young children. It is therefore advisable to use products specifically tailored to the needs of older incontinent people. TENA has developed the ProSkin range especially for the incontinence care of older people. In addition to reliable incontinence protection, which ensures high absorbency and long dryness, this also includes washcloths and creams for cleaning and caring for sensitive skin, as well as a barrier cream to prevent skin irritation.
