VAGISAN sept vaginal suppositories with povidone iodine:

Vagisan sept is a unique vaginal antiseptic with povidone iodine (PVP iodine) that treats the cause of the vaginal infection directly. The broad spectrum of activity covers bacteria, fungi and yeasts as well as some viruses and protozoa. Therefore, it can be used for a variety of vaginal infections, including specific and non-specific vaginal infections, infections caused by trichomonas such as Trichomonas vaginalis (trichomoniasis), and mixed infections.

Here not only one type of pathogen is responsible for the infection, e.g. B. known from bacterial vaginosis or vaginal thrush, but bacteria and fungi are involved in an infection at the same time. Vagisan sept can also be recommended for bacterial infections caused by Gardnerella vaginalis, Bacteroides, Prevotella and Mycoplasma hominis. PVP-iodine is effective despite biofilms and is therefore also used for recurrent, ie recurring, infections. Vagisan sept can be used repeatedly, since the development of resistance to PVP-iodine is not known.

The suppository is the only vaginal antiseptic with the active ingredient povidone-iodine, a complex compound of iodine with the carrier povidone, which is well tolerated. Vagisan sept is easy to insert without an applicator, works quickly and is well tolerated.

Good reasons for Vagisan sept

• combats the cause of the infection locally in the vagina
• suppositories are easy to insert without an applicator
• takes effect quickly
• very well tolerated
• no known development of resistance to PVP-iodine

5 vaginal suppositories

Insert 1 vaginal pessary as deeply as possible into the vagina once a day. The vaginal pessaries can be easily inserted without an applicator. It is best to do this in the evening as this allows the antiseptic to work while you sleep. Since the pessary melts in the vagina, it is advisable to wear panty liners to avoid staining your underwear. If laundry does get dirty, it can usually be removed with warm water and soap. Treatment should not be carried out during menstruation. You should not use tampons during treatment. If necessary, especially in the case of Candida albicans infection, you can use 2 vaginal suppositories a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. The duration of the treatment depends on the improvement of your symptoms, however, it should not be more than 10 days. If symptoms do not improve within 10 days, contact your doctor.

Antiseptics directly attack the causative agents of an infection, such as bacteria, fungi or viruses. They are often known as disinfectants z. B. for hands or for wound disinfection. Vagisan sept is a local antiseptic for the vagina in the case of vaginal infections. An advantage of local application is that the effect unfolds directly on site and the active substance does not first have to penetrate through the bloodstream to the focus of infection. This allows for a very quick effect.

The disinfecting effect of Vagisan sept is due to the active ingredient povidone-iodine, a more easily tolerated complex form of iodine. The good tolerability and broad spectrum of action of povidone-iodine is particularly appreciated in the preparation for surgery and wound disinfection. Therefore, povidone iodine is one of the most widely used active ingredients in gynecological surgeries worldwide. Due to the active ingredient, Vagisan sept vaginal suppositories have the chocolate-brown color typical of iodine preparations.
