How does non-infectious conjunctivitis develop?
In contrast to purulent, infectious conjunctivitis, which is usually caused by bacteria, allergies and other external stimuli are among the most common causes of non-infectious conjunctivitis (e.g. sun exposure, smoke, dust, pollen or chlorine in indoor swimming pools). Non-purulent conjunctivitis can also occur in connection with a cold or a flu-like infection. The conjunctiva can also become inflamed as a result of prolonged overexertion. For example, when the eye is overburdened by long screen work. Non-infectious conjunctivitis is not contagious.

Pretty meadow flower with a big effect: Euphrasia officinalis
For centuries, extracts from the pretty meadow flower Euphrasia officinalis (also known as eyebright) have been used to treat eye problems. The medicinal plant extracts relieve pain, burning, redness and soothe the irritated conjunctiva.

Weleda tip: It's easier
to put eye drops in it Sometimes it's difficult to put eye drops in irritated eyes, especially in babies or small children. However, if you put a drop in the nostril corner of the closed eye, the drop runs in all by itself.
