WHAT VITAMIN C-INJEKTOPAS® 300 MG IS AND WHAT IT IS USED FOR?
VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg is a vitamin preparation. VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg is used for methaemoglobinemia in childhood (
especially after poisoning, threatening reduction in oxygen transport in the blood). Vitamin C supply with artificial (parenteral) nutrition.
BEFORE YOU USE VITAMIN C-INJEKTOPAS® 300 MG?
VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg must not be used with: The following describes when VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg may only be used under certain conditions and only with particular caution. Please ask your doctor about this. This also applies if this information applied to you in the past.
VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg may only be used after consulting your doctor for kidney stones from oxalate and certain diseases in which too much iron is stored in the body (thalassemia, hemochromatosis, sideroblastic anemia).
Take special care when using VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg in the case of:
Intravenous injection of high doses of VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg can lead to acute kidney failure due to kidney stones due to the precipitation of calcium oxalate crystals in the kidneys. This has already been observed at doses of 1.5-2.5 g. Patients with pre-existing renal impairment (renal insufficiency) are particularly at risk from this. In patients with recurrent kidney stone formation, the daily dose of vitamin C should not exceed 100 to 200 mg. Patients with severe or terminal kidney failure (dialysis patients) should not receive more than 50 to 100 mg daily. In patients with erythrocytic glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency (hereditary disorder of the metabolism of red blood cells), high doses of vitamin C (more than 4 g daily) were sometimes used in individual cases severe hemolysis (breakdown of red blood cells) has been observed. Exceeding the specified dosage should therefore be avoided.
VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg must not be mixed with drugs whose effects are reduced by chemical reduction.

Important information about certain other ingredients of VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg: VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg contains sodium, but less than 1 mmol (23 mg) sodium per 2 ml, ie it is almost "sodium-free".
HOW TO USE VITAMIN C-INJEKTOPAS® 300 MG?
Always use VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg exactly as instructed in this package insert. Please ask your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. To prevent a vitamin C deficiency during prolonged artificial (parenteral) nutrition, adults receive 100 to 500 mg ascorbic acid intravenously per day (corresponding to 0.7 ml to 3.3 ml VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg). Children intravenously 5 to 7 mg ascorbic acid / kg body weight per day.
MethaemogloE 500 to 1000 mg ascorbic acid (corresponding to 3.3 ml to 6.6 ml VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg) are injected once intravenously.
If necessary, the administration should be repeated with the same dosage. A dose of 100 mg / kg body weight per day should not be exceeded.

VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg is slowly injected intravenously (into the veins) by your doctor or other medical staff.
Note: The preservative-free injection solution is only intended for single withdrawal.
The application must take place immediately after opening the ampoule. Unused leftovers are to be discarded.
Duration of application:
Your doctor will decide on the duration of use based on the course of the disease and the blood values. If you have used more VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg than you should: The use of VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg is interrupted. Other measures are generally not necessary, with the exception of hemolysis or kidney stones (see section “Take special care with VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg”).
In the event of pain in the kidney region or difficult urination after a high dose of VITAMIN C-Injektopas® 300 mg, a doctor should be informed immediately.
WHAT SIDE EFFECTS ARE POSSIBLE?
