Ylang-ylang is a tropical tree with intensely fragrant whitish-yellow flowers that is cultivated in Madagascar, Reunion and the Comoros. In its natural environment, the YlangYlang tree is 10-30 meters high, but in cultivation it is pruned to 2-3 meters. The distillation of the flowers takes up to 20 hours, the finest quality emerges after 2-3 hours and is called Ylang extra referred to as superior. Ylang-ylang is an important raw material for perfumery.
